Hi Marvin. I have been following your posts with interest for a while and have a few comments. Think about this if you were a businsess man. In our country we have freedom of religion...which means that an employer cannot discriminate against an employee due that employee's religious beliefs or affiliations. However...what if an employer allowed you to proselytize on the job to customers? How could he prevent an employee who was Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, atheist, Hindu, from trying to tell every customer the "truth" as that employee sees it? How would you feel that every time you patronized a business, you had no idea whether you were going to be presented with another person's religious "truth"? As a business owner myself, I do not see it as the proper role of my employees while on the job to attempt to convert my customers to my employee's way of believing. Can you understand why such a policy allowing employees to preach and proselytize to customers would become both annoying to customers and quite detrimental to the business? How much sympathy would you have toward a devout and sincere Hindu who wanted to show you the error of your ways when you walked into a store to buy a television set?
Marvin,
Hooray for standing up for what you believe in. Hopefully I'll another one of your audio blogs on Peterson's site again soon.
It's good to know that in the midst of your troubles and tribulations you are managing to have a "good day!" Just remember this ~ God is good ALL the time and ALL the time God is good!
I did catch your subtle laying of blame ~ I don't think that your customer got you fired, rather your reaction to your customers "porn" comment. Then again, if it makes you feel better to let the "blame" fall on your customer that's cool!
Make it a blessed day!
j.
